We announce ongoing justice work through social media — FB, Twitter, Insta — because we’re light on our feet, just trying to keep up in a world that can be suddenly and seriously hostile to LGBTQ+ beloveds.
NORTH TEXAS TRANSPORTATION NETWORK
The North Texas TRANSportation Network provides travel grants to North Texas families seeking out-of-state health care for trans and gender-diverse minors.
Galileo Church has, as its first missional priority, to “do justice for LGBTQ+ people and support the people who love them.” Galileo Church holds the 501(c)3 for NTTN as an “integrated auxiliary ministry.” Galileo founded NTTN in the summer of 2023.
The NTTN is a non-religious organization, requiring no religious participation or belief by applicants, their families, donors, or steering committee members.

FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO
Over a quarter-century of ministry, our lead evangelist Katie Hays has been learning and teaching that orthodox, biblical, Christian faith not only supports but demands the inclusion of LGBTQ+ persons in the church.
For Galileo Church, it has been important to help every believer articulate this essential piece of discipleship. A seminar, also called “For the Bible Tells Me So,” evolved into a slim booklet, which is a succinct rendering of a complex theological mystery: God’s consistent and surprising embrace of those whom Very Religious People have cast out.
Part One is a rapid read of the (very small) set of scriptures that seem to prohibit LGBTQ+ identity.
Part Two presents an alternative to fact-checking every individual verse. If we read the Bible as a whole — i.e. one unified, unfolding story of the church's discovery of God’s generosity — we can track a trend toward the inclusion of all people in God’s family of beloveds. Human embrace of the marginalized “other” grows as God’s own Spirit appears in the lives of those once thought to be outside of God’s amazing grace.
This booklet also includes an open letter published on social media in 2017, “To the Dearly Beloved Queer Children of God,” as an example of how biblical-theological study has provoked Galileo Church to action on behalf of LGBTQ+ Christians who seek inclusion in the church.

FINN’S PLACE
Finn's Place works to provide a safe space for the trans community to gather and access resources, educate the community about trans and LGBTQ+ people and their experiences, and create opportunities for trans joy.
At Finn's Place, "trans joy" is described as when a trans person feels safe in their body, their identity is respected, and they have access to a supportive community. Finn's Place is a haven for trans joy, so that anyone who walks through those doors feels safe, respected, loved, and supported. Trans joy should be everywhere a trans person is.
Finn’s Place is named after Finn Spicer, a trans teenager who taught those around him to trust people when they communicate who they are. This space is cared for by Finn’s faith community, us, Galileo Church, in support of our commitment to “do justice for LGBTQ+ people.” Read more about Galileo’s missional priorities here.
